He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics at University of Texas @Austin. Before joining UB, he was a Professor in Physics at Georgia Tech, and even before a post-doc and an INEST visiting professor at Harvard University. He obtained his BS, MS and PhD in physics from University of\u00a0Granada. His field of expertise is soft condensed matter. He leads the Soft Condensed Matter Lab at UB. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-cee62c55\">\n<div data-aos= \"fade-down\" data-aos-duration=\"400\" data-aos-delay=\"0\" data-aos-easing=\"ease\" data-aos-once=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-team uagb-team__image-position-left uagb-team__align-left uagb-team__stack-tablet uagb-block-4fdd650f\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"uagb-team__image-crop-circle\" src=\"https:\/\/eventos.ugr.es\/ecis2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/09\/Eleonora-Secchi.jpg\" alt=\"\" height=\"150\" width=\"150\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><div class=\"uagb-team__content\"><h3 class=\"uagb-team__title\"><strong>Eleonora Secchi<\/strong><\/h3><span class=\"uagb-team__prefix\">Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, ETH Z\u00fcrich<\/span><p class=\"uagb-team__desc\">Dr. Eleonora Secchi is Group Leader at ETH Z\u00fcrich. Trained in soft matter physics and nanofluidics, she established her research group, the bioMatter Microfluidics Group, in 2018 thanks to an SNSF PRIMA Grant. Her work combines microfluidics, soft matter physics, and biophysics to uncover how environmental forces shape the structure and resilience of bacterial biofilms \u2014 microbial communities with broad impact in medicine, technology, and the environment. A particular focus of her research is on biofilm rheology and on how the mechanical properties of biofilms control their interactions with surrounding fluids.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-2fe99fc4 default uagb-is-root-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-c5d958a8\">\n<div data-aos= \"fade-down\" data-aos-duration=\"400\" data-aos-delay=\"0\" data-aos-easing=\"ease\" data-aos-once=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-team uagb-team__image-position-left uagb-team__align-left uagb-team__stack-tablet uagb-block-8f1a8221\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"uagb-team__image-crop-circle\" src=\"https:\/\/eventos.ugr.es\/ecis2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/12\/Matej-Kanduc.jpg\" alt=\"\" height=\"150\" width=\"150\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><div class=\"uagb-team__content\"><h3 class=\"uagb-team__title\"><strong><strong>Matej Kandu\u010d<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3><span class=\"uagb-team__prefix\">Jo\u017eef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana, Slovenia<\/span><p class=\"uagb-team__desc\">Matej Kandu\u010d is a researcher in soft-matter physics at the Jo\u017eef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana. After completing his PhD at the University of Ljubljana, he pursued postdoctoral research at the Technical University of Munich, the Free University of Berlin, and Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, before establishing his research group in theoretical soft- and bio-matter. His work combines molecular simulations with statistical physics to uncover the principles governing nanoscale interfacial phenomena, including hydrophobic interactions, hydration forces, cavitation, and the physics of droplets and bubbles, with a recent focus on how surfactants and lipid assemblies regulate wetting and nucleation.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-44c768f3\">\n<div data-aos= \"fade-down\" data-aos-duration=\"400\" data-aos-delay=\"0\" data-aos-easing=\"ease\" data-aos-once=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-team uagb-team__image-position-left uagb-team__align-left uagb-team__stack-tablet uagb-block-1e31d996\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"uagb-team__image-crop-circle\" src=\"https:\/\/eventos.ugr.es\/ecis2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/09\/Anna-Salvati.jpg\" alt=\"\" height=\"150\" width=\"150\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><div class=\"uagb-team__content\"><h3 class=\"uagb-team__title\"><strong>Anna Salvati<\/strong><\/h3><span class=\"uagb-team__prefix\">Department of Nanomedicine and\u00a0Drug Targeting,\u00a0Groningen Research Institute of Pharmacy, University of Groningen (NL)<\/span><p class=\"uagb-team__desc\"><br>Anna Salvati is an associate professor in Nanomedicine at the University of Groningen. She is a biologist with a PhD in chemistry\u00a0from the University of Florence. After working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for\u00a0BioNano\u00a0Interactions at the University College Dublin,\u00a0she was awarded a Rosalind Franklin Fellowship to establish her group at the University of Groningen.
