University of Cologne, Germany

Keynote Lecture: Universality in Ferronematic Liquids: Polymer-mediated Stabilization of Magnetic Nanodopants of Different Size and Shape in Liquid Crystal Phases.

Prof. Annette M. Schmidt is Professor for Physical Chemistry at the University of Cologne (UoC) since 2010. She received a PhD in natural science from the RWTH Aachen in 2002. After leading a junior research group at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf as a Liebig fellow (VCI) and Emmy Noether fellow (DFG), she joined Universität Bonna as a stand-in Professor for Organic Chemistry in 2009, before she got appointed to UoC. She received the Reimund-Stadler Award of the GDCh in 2007. She is a PI in several national and international projects and collaborations and published more than 120 papers on soft matter and nanostructured magnetic materials. Her research interests span the synthesis and dynamics of polymers and complex fluids, responsive matter, and particle-matrix interactions.
